UPPER HUTT MALE VOICE CHOIR.

SUCCESSFUL CONCERT. The eleventh concert of the Upper Hutt Male Voice Choir was held on Tuesday evening- last, and the large audience present was entertained to a musical treat of hig-h standing-. Mr. Josland, the conductor, deserves special mention for the careful and skilful manner in which he had trained those under his baton and for the fine selection of music •with ■which he entertained the audience. The soloist for the evening was Mrs. R. Bradley, the well-known local contralto, whose songs were received with enthusiastic applause. The St. Patrick's orchestra, under the baton of Father Feehly, added to the enjoyment of the evening. Of the musical scores rendered during- the programme by the choir the most outstanding -was "Sanctus" in six parts (from the "B Minor Mass"). The rendering of this piece of music was something of a masterpiece and the appreciation of the listeners was shown by loud and prolonged applause, and it may be said that nothing quite so good has previously been heard in the Upper Hutt. The accompanists for the evening were Miss Hilda Gorrie, L.R.S.M., L.T.C.L., and Mrs. F. Whiteman. The following is the programme rendered : "N.Z. National Anthem," choir and orchestra; part song, "Sailors' Chorus," choir; part song, "Come

Gentle Night," choir; quartet, "Every Rustling- Tree," Messrs. N. Erridge, A. Marryatt, D. Andrews and A. L. Bryant; part song, "The Wanderer," choir; contralto solo, "The Erl King-," Mrs. R.
