QUEEN CARNIVAL DANCE.
The official opening of tlie Queert Carnival for the Rugby Club took place on Tuesday evening last in the Majestic Theatre, when the Third Grade held a dance. Mr. Keegan, President of the Club, introduced the respective queens to the people present, and asked that all support be given them during their campaign. The Harmony Radio Boys' Orchestra provided the music and Mr. Lance Barnes acted as M.C. Among those present were: Misses , Strickland, Skirton and. Cooke (Queens for the various grades), P. Smyrke, McGhie (2), Strickland, Dell (2) , Plummer, Dalton, Hogan, Fyfe, Shaw, Pretty, Tidswell, Shearer, Mesdames Hirschhorn, McKegney, Oldham, Griffiths, Messrs. McKegney, McGrath, Golder, R. McKendry, D. Auckram, Bailie, Southee, J. Wyeth, Griffiths, Murray and a large number of sailors in camp at Trentham. The Committee and helpers responsible for the evening were: Messrs. St. Johnston, Douglas, Jones, Wyeth, Duske, Patterson, Paul and Archer.
