INDUCTION SERVICE.

A rather unique and inspirational service took place in the Methodist Church, Upper Hutt, last Thux-sday evening, when Sister- Edith Beer was inducted as the minister in charge of the Church. The service was conducted by the Rev. J. H. Haslam, of Wellington, who in his address reminded the congregation that while it is not the usual custom of the conference to appoint women to the charge of a circuit, in the present appointment the people realise that the Methodist Church officers in conference were broad-minded enough to appreciate the value of the work of the women in the Church as well as in the home. Sister Edith has the distinction of being the fourth woman to be appointed as a Minister in New Zealand Methodism and in undertaking the charge at Upper Hutt can be assured of the sincere prayers and best wishes of all Chx'istian folk and her ministry will be watched with interest.
