ANKUtAL REPORT. Following is the report and balancesheet to bo presented at Friday might's ineoUng of subscribers : " lour Committee beg to present the 45th annual report and valancesheet for the year ended 31 et December, IUI3. '' The revenue from all sources amounted to £lO2 10s 2d, an inereise of £'J 2s 4d on the income received last year. This increase is wholly due to money received from members' subscriptions. The revenue received from memlhers' subscriptions amounted to Jdlti 12s (id, an increase from this source of £lO 3s, from last year; and I his result is very satisfactory when compared with the gradual decline in subscriptions that has taken place for a number of years. During ike year your Committee made a special effort to increase the number of subscribers and the above result is no doubt mainly -*iue to that effort. There is still room for an improvement in the number of subscribers, espesially in the outlying districts where the number is small. !

" The total expenditure for the venr including debit balance of £-15 12s" lid brought forward amounted to £213 Us Sd, but as £o(J has. been transferred fi-om lixed deposit to current account, there was a credit balance at the bant of £lo 5a Od, at the closo of the year.

" Your Committee found it necessary to reduce the amount oxpeaded on magazines and newspupers, to bring the expenditure into lino with the revenue, but hoped, that future etinuiittee's will be able to see their way clear to put a ; number oi them on the reading room tables again.

" The total number oi books added to the library {or the year was 77, nearly all liction by leading writers. " lhe President (Mr Moore), Mr Mcintosh, and Mr .Norrie visited tho beaunioEfc reserve during tho year and reported that the tenants (Carson Bros.) were complying with the terms of the lease in all matters oi importance. They also reported that the ten ants had built a substantial dwelling house on the reserve.
