LAWN TENNIS.

A team representing the Taieri Lawn Tennis Club visited Lawrence during the New Year holidays to try conclusions with the local club* The visit was marked by the utmost hospitality on the part of the local qlub, who proved themselves most excellent hosts as well as keen enthusiastics in the game. Air though the visiting gentlemen proved too heavy metal for their opponents, the Lawrence ladies fairly outclassed their lady guests, and turned what would Otherwise have been a big defeat into a pjose contest. The courts were in splenr did pondition and the weather pro? pitious, and as the match was played in the most friendly of spirits a most enjoyable game was the result. The Lawrence Club entertained their visitors in the evening by a highly enjoyable pro? gressive euphre party. The following are the results of the match, the names of the visitors in every case being mentioned first;—

Men's Doubles. M'Eenzie and M'Kerrow 9 beat Corrigan and Haggitt 4. Miller and Harraway 9 beat W. M'Einlay and Uren 3.
