The invitation to the Yeomanry to reenlist largely failed owing to the men's pay being so long in arrears. Mr Brodrick has ordered the training of fresh mounted contingents or regulars. The ' South African N"ews ' hag voluntarily ceased publication owing to the operation of martial law. Frebert Schoeman, one of Lotter'a lieutants, has been executed. Lord Kitohener has confirmed the death sentence passed on Wolfaardt, another of Letter's officers. Wolfaardt has been executed. Lord Kitchener's weekly report states that 26 Boers were killed, 8 wounded, 194 taken prisoners, and 42 surrendered ; while 108 rifles, 38,250 rounds of ammunition, 40 waggons, 2,200 horses and 3,250 cattle were captured. Colonel Walter Kitchener's column, operating from Paulpleteraburg and Utrecht, are pursuing large numbers of Boers between Slangopiesberg and Pongola Bosch. De la Rey and Kemp are at Lindley Poort. A buried Maxim was recovered at Dewarrsvlei. Information aa to its whereabouta was supplied by Boer prisoners. Twenty-nine Boers belonging to Fieldcornet Hall's commando surrendered at Potchefatroom.
