FATAL DREDGING ACCIDENT
TWO MEN DROWNED.
The Clyde correspondent of the "Daily Timeßi mted on Tliurßdaj ;— " An aooideni ooourred this motniDg to the boat attached to the Dunstan Lead dredge, which resulted in tiie drowning of Herbert Ferris and Richard Blatoh. There were four men in the boat at Ihe time, but two managed to swim ashore. The unfortunate men were relieving the night shift, and all were engaged in taking aboard the coal required for the day. In some unexplained manner the boat (containing 30 bags Of coal) got too much sheer, and suddenly , iwamped, the men jumpiDg out. Blatoh was 1 A married man, his wife living in Mornington, Dunedin. Ferris (aged 29) was a son of lir James Ferris, Newborougb, Oamaru. The bodies have not yet been found. This is the third accident on the same stretoh of river, Mtoh of which has been attended with fatal results."
