ROXBURGH NOTES.
TOWN COBBESPONDBNT.] Since Saturday, 22nd June, hard 1 frosts have been continuous, interfering 1 with, and, in fact, stopping ploughing . and sluicing. The dams at Roxburgh East and Goal Creek are frozen suffi- ' ciently thick to bear a fair number of people, and skating is bejng freely in- ' dulged in. From the state of the ' barometer, I should say that the frost j will continue for some time. ' The local sohool re-opens on Monday next, after the midwinter vacation. ' Quite a number of Roxburgh people have returned from witnessing the • Koyal reception in Dunedin last week. ] A dozen or so Alexandra Rifles passed ' through here on the return journey, but ( ' most of them went back by the Otago ' Central route. Roxbnrgh indulges in a good deal of j dancing during the winter. The local Oddfellows' Lodge celebrate their 32nd ' anniversary on Wednesday by a social, ' and the Church of England hold their ' first social this season on Tuesday even- ' mg. ! The erection of Heron's Hotel (new : building), Dr Mullin's residence, and j the police camp is advancing steadily. '
