CORONER'S INQUEST.

An inquest was held on Saturday afternoon at 29 Moray Place, Dunedin, by Mr Coroner Graham and a jury of six (Mr D. M'Fea foreman). David M'lntosh, miner, of Lawrence, deposed that the deceased, who was his wife, had been under medioal treatment for weakness of the heart since 1898, and he had been warned that she might die at any time. He last saw her alive on Wednesday, when he was seeing the illuminations with her, but had to return to Lawrence by the late train. She was in the habit of taking digitalis granules, whioh had been prescribed by Dr Brown. Dr William Marshall Macdonald de- 1 posed that he saw deceased on Tuesday, 25th, when she was in good spirits, and apparently in fair health. From what i he had learned about her from Dr Brown 1 he was eatisfied that she died of syncope through heart disease. He was called < on Friday morning, and fonnd her dead < when he arrived at 9.30. Lucy Mullin, daughter of the pro- 1 prietress of the house, stated that she last saw deceased alive on Thursday 1 night, when she was about to go to bed. . < She took in her breakfast next morning i at 9.15, and found her dead. Witness went for Dr Macdonald, who arrived 1 shortly after, and pronounced Mrs < M'lntosh to be quite dead. 1 The Jury, without retiring, gave a 1 verdict of " Death from natnral causes." 1 A paragraph relative to the above in 1 yesterday's " Daily Times " says :— Our report of the evidence given by Dr < Marshall Macdonald at the inquest on . Saturday on the body of Mrs M'lntosh, 1 of Lawrence, is liable to cause misap- '. prehension. W hen Dr Macdonald stated that he saw the deceased on the 1 25th ult. he did not imply that she con- 1 suited him. She called upon him with . a relative, whom he examined. Had she 1 personally consulted him, an inquest 1 wonld have been unnecessary. I
