THE MINISTER OF MINES' VISIT.

In anticipation of the viflit of the Minister of Mines to this district to-day,, a number of gentlemen interested in hydraulic sluicing and dredging met in Mr Pearson's office last night for the purpose of discussing various matters that required bringing under hie notice. Mr W. Smyth was voted to the chair and explained briefly the object of the meeting. An ipformal discussion then followed on the various difficulties that beset these two forma of mining, and the following deputations, were appointed — viz., Messrs Smyth, Adams, and Jaokson in regard to aluioing matters, and^ Messrs Robertson, M'lntosh, and Pilling in regard to dredging matters/ . . Mr Haggitt, who was present, agreed to accompany both deputations.
