BVBKSISS— WbDNESDAT. Fat Cattle. —The entry for to-day's market at Burnside numbered 163 head. A fair proportion of these were good useful weights and nice quality, several pens being prune. A good demand was experienced throughout the sale, and late rates were well maintained, and, in some cases, improved upon. Best bullocks sold at £8 to £9 17s 6d ; medium, £6 to £7 10s ; best cows, £6 to £8 ; medium, £4 to £5 10s. JF*t Sfihep. — The supply was below the average, only 1760 being penned. These were all crossbreds; the greater part being good to prime quality. Competition was Fairly brisk, and an improvement of 6d to Is per head on last week's prices was re- i corded. Best crossbred wethers, 14s to 14s 9d ; medium do, 10s 6d to 13s ; best crossbred ewes, 12s 6d to 14s 3d ; medium do, 8s 6d to 11s 6d.-fThe Farmers' Agency Co.' sold for Mr S. Williamson ( Waita- ] huna)62 crossbred wethers at 10s 6d to 12s. Fat Lambs. — 250 penned, mostly goo 3 qaality. Best lambs sold at 7s to 103 ; j others, 5s to 6s 6d. Pigs.— lo6 penned. Suckers brought 4s to 6s; slips, 8s to 10s; stores, 12a to 14s 6d ; porkers, 18s to 235 ; baconers, 24s to 275. Stove Cattle^ — Market quiet. No sales of any consequence are coming under notice. Store Sheep. — Good crossbred hoggets, also forward crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, are in fair demand, and sell at full prices'; mixed sorts are also saleable, but at prices more in favor of buyers. Wool. — There is no business of importance being done in' the local market. Any little lots offering, however, are fairly well competed for, realising prices quite iD sympathy with those lately obtaining for. similar quality at Home. Sheepskins.— The usual weekly sales on Tuesday, notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather, were well attended. Good picked lines of green crossbred skins suitable for mats and other special purposes were keenly competed for, and so were all good woolled. Dry oroasbreds and merino skins, short-woolled sorts, are neglected. Kabbitskins. — A moderately fair demand is experienced, but owing to the depressed tone of the market at Home prices obtaining now in the local market are unsatisfactory. Home manufacturers being now able to purchase the best skins at gush low prices in quantities sufficient for their requirements, inferior and medium skins are neglected ; consequently sales effected of such are at ' lower prices than ever. Quotations this week are : For best winter grey, 9£d to 10£ d; extra prime, on occasions, lid; best' autumn, 7d to 8d; medium, 6d to 6|d ; summer, 3d to 4£d ; suckers and inferior, Id to l£d ; best winter black and fawn, 9d to lOd ; medium do, 7d to 8d ; inferior, 3d to 6d per lb. Hides. — No change to note. Tallow and Fat. — Business is somewhat quiet.
