Toilet Suggestions.

If the face has become roughened by the wind, fiponge it often with equal parts of rose-water and brandy. Do not nse toilet washes containing much alcohol, as they are quite apt to produce harmful results. The alcohol parches the skin, renders it brittle, and impairs its nutrition. For ohapped lips, dissolve some beeswax in a little Bweet oil by heating together gently. Apply to the lips several times a day, and uvoid wetting them as much as possible. An old-fashioned recipe for a perfectly harmless face lotion is the following . Taka seeds of pumpkin, melon, gourd, and cucumbers, and pound them to a powder, adding freßh cream to dilate the powder; then add sweet milk 6nough to make a thin paste; a few drops of oil of lemon or of lemon juice must be added. Apply this to the face for half-an-hour at a time, or it may be put on when retiring and left on over night. When the faoe is usually pale, bathe in tspid water, rubbing briskly with a Turkish towel. Then apply every day the following preparation : Four ounces of rose-water, two ounces of glycerine, &nn one ounce of diluted liquid ammonia. Bub it well into the Bkin for about three minutes, and then wipe off with a soft towel. If any irritation is felt, add a little more glycerine to the preparation.

Common horseradish grated into a cup of sour milk, then strained, is said to be an excellent lotion for removing freckles. An ounce of lemon juice in a pint of rose-water will also answer the same purpose. Both are harmless and good.
