"DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKE T, &C.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report for the week ended 22nd July as follows :— Wheat. —There is no change to report in this market. Millers are not disposed to operate while their present stocks keep them going, so that the business done in this line does not amount to much at present. Holders for the most part are very firm in their demands, being pretty well satisfied that the supply is rather under than over that which will be required for local consumption. Sellers still hold for late quotations, w^ich we repeat : For best milling velvet and Tuscan, 4s 7d to 4s 8d — extra prime, Id more ; medium to good, 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; good whole fowls' wheat, 3a 6d to 3s 9d ; broken, 2s 9d to 33 5d (ex. store, sacks weighed in, terms). Oats. — These continue in moderately good demand, all sorts being saleable at prices according to condition, quality, and color ; but buyers, except on very rare occasions, demur to give the prices lately current. We quote beat milling, Is 6d to Is 6£d ; extra prime, Is 7d ; beat bright feed, Is 5d to Is s£d ; medium to good, Is 3|d to Is 4^d ; inferior, smutty, and damp, la to 1a 2£d (ex store, sacks extra, net cash), Barley. — Stocks have been considerably reduced lately, but prices have not advanced to any appreciable extent. Grass Seeds.— A few sales are being effected of ryegrasß seed at late quotations, but very little doing -in cocksfoot. Potatoes. — Really good Northern Derwenfs, slightly better demand, 453 to 48s : while Southern continue sluggish at from 30s to 40s per ton (sacks weighed in). Chaff.— Moderate demand. Best 42s 6d to 45s — on rare occasions 47a 6d is obtained ; medium, 37s 6d to 40s ; inferior, 30s to 35s per ton. Dairy Produce. — Locally the market is dull, and but for the export trade Home there would be no business worth reporting. Flax. — The Home market continues to further improve, which will doubtless strengthen the local. We quote for good t to prime, £17 to £18— extra fine a shade more ; medium, £14 10s to £16 10s ; inferior, £12 103 £14 per ton.
