Eat Cattle.- 162 head forward. Of these only .a few head were prime, the larger proportion being only fair to medium quality and light weights. For best cattle competition was active and a slight advance obtained, i but other qualities were slow of sale at about late rates. Beßt bullocks brought £8 10s .to £11 2s 6d, others £4 5s to £7 15s; best cows, £5 to £7, others £3 10s to £4 155. Fat Galves.--Six penned. L. Maclean sold 4 at 42s each. Fat Sheep. — 2473 penned, inclusive of 265 ■ merinos. After last week's full supply the number forward proved much in excess of requirements, and competition was dull, while to effect sales a decline of Is to Is 6d per head had to be submitted to, leaving several pens to be turned out unsold. Prime cross-bred wethors, 13s 9d to 14s 9d ; others, 10s to 13s 6d ; merino wethers, 6s 3d to 9a 6d ; croBS-bred ewes, 10s 9d to 12s. Horses.— Messrs Wright, Stephenson and 00. quote first-class draughts at from £27 to £34 ; medium, £17 to £23 ; good hacks and light-harness horses, £15 to £20; medium, £8 to £12 ; light and inferior, £2 to £6. Store Cattle are only occasionally enquired for. During the week Henry Driver placed 57 head well-conditioned bullocks at full market rates. Store Sheep.— Very litttle doing in this riass of stock. Wool. — The latest cable advices received from London by the New Zealand Loan and , Mercantile Agency Company state: ."There is still much irregularity, in the biddings. The total quantity catalogued was 239,000 | bales, and the quantity withdrawn to date 36,000 bales. The sale programme has boen curtailed by four days, and will close on the 11th mat. The fourth series of sales will commence on Ist September, and the fifth

series on 17th November."
