ROXBURGH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

In the absence of a quorum (only the Mayor, and Crs Bailie, Herron, and J. J. Smith being in attendance), the ordinary meeting of the above body was not held last Thursday evening, being adjourned to Monday, 10th instant. On the latter date, the Mayor, and Crs Steele/ Bailie, Woodhouse, Herron, and Grover put in an appearance. The ininutes of the previous monthly meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was received from the Colonial Secretary, acknowledging receipt of Town Clerk's letter, notifying Mr Andrew's reelection to the office of Mayor.

It was resolved, on the motion of Cr Steele, seconded by Cr Bailie : "That a rate of one shilling in the £ be levied on all rateable property within the Borough, payable in one sum on the 10th day of December."

The following accounts were passed for payment : — D. Reea, £18 10s ; J. Weatherall, £11 18a ; J. Burton, £5 7s 9d ; Clerk, Licensing Bench, £2 10s ; T. Andrew, £2 15s 2d.

Mr R. Tubman's account of £42 10a for half-cost of erecting a fence on the boundary of the Roxburgh reserve was referred back for a detailed statement of cost.

Yropoßed by Or Woodhouse, and seconded by Cr Grover : " That tenders be called for a sledge hut for storing Corporation tools," &c.

It was resolved, on the motion ot Or Herron, seconded by Cr Woodhouse; "That the Town Clerk be instructed to write to the Chairman of the Tuapeka County asking His co-operation with the Vincent County in getting the Waikaia bush road surveyed, and also to endeavor to get the Government to construct the road."

It was also decided to forward a copy of the above resolution to Mr "Vincent Fyke, M.H.R.

Resolved : " That Constable W. Poole be appointed Inspector "under ~"th"i provisions of section 11 of the ( Adulteration Amendment Act, 1883. ' " This concluded the business.
