DUNEDIN MARKETS-STOCK, &c.

Messrs Maclean and Co. report for the week, ending December 5 as follows : —

Fat Cattle.— To-dny 214 head were forwarded for trade requirements, consisting principally of good to prime quality. In consequence of the full market last week, and the full supply to-day, sales showed for almost every lot throughout the sales a decline in prices as compared with last week. Prime bullocks, from £9 15s to £10 7s 6d ; fair to good, £5 to £9 10s ; cows, from £4 17s 6d to £9 ss. We sold on acccount of John Sutherland, Esq. (Mosgiel), 8 head at, for bullocis, £5 2s 7d to £8, and for cows, £6 17s 6d ; on account of James Hutton, Esq., 5 head light-weight bullocks at £4 2s 6d, and 4 heifera at £4 6s 6d ; and on account of Messrs J. Wyllie, Aitken, Newton, and others, 10 head (principally cows) at up to £7. We quote prime beef 22s 6d per 1001 b. Fat Cnlvis. — Twenty were yarded, and sold from da to 355.

Fat Sheep. — The number penned to-day was 2187, consisting of 1687 shorn and 500 woolly sheep. The greater proportion were croisbreds, not more than 475 being merinos. Competition was languid, and prices were about Is per head under last week's' rates, and but for the fact that a number of the lot forward were taken by graziers, a much greater reduction would have been the result. Crossbreds in the wool brought from 16« to 19a 3d, and an extra primp lot 22s ; shorn do., lls to 18s 3d ; merinos in the wool, 15s to 17s ; do shorn, 10s 6d to lls. We sold on account of A. Copeland, Esq. (St Andrews) 179 merinos in the wool, 15s ; on account ot the New Zealand and Austin* lian Land Company (from their Totara Estate) 60 crossbreds (scorn) at 18*, and 140 merinos (shorn) at lls ; on account of John Michael, Esq. (Lawrence), 9 crossbreds at 14s 3d, and 45 shorn crossbreds at 14s 9d. We quote prime mutton in the wool, barely 3&d, and shorn 2sd per lb.

Fat Lambs. — 412 were penned, and sold at from 5s 6d to 12b 9d. We boW 42 on account of Mr John Michael, at from 5s 9d to 6s 3d.

Fat Pigs. — Sixty-nine of all descriptions were yarded, and sold at from 11s 6d to 60s.

Sutton, Esq., at a satisfactory price. Horses. — Our usual sale was held on Saturday last. There was a full attendance, and the greater proportion of the entries, which consisted principally of thoroughbreds from D. Corsan, Esq., and T. Pollock, Esq., found buyers at fairly satisfactory prices. We quote firat-elass draughts £30 to £40; medium, £20^6 £25 j "good had'ks 'and ligbfthhrness horses, €15 lo £20; medium, £8 to £12.

Wool. -From cablegrams from the Home market we learn Unit prices continue firmer, with a good demund. So far no soles have been held here, but the new clip is now arriving, and appears to be fully equal in quality to former season's clip.

■ Sheep-ki"B>— At our sale held on Monday last we offered and sold a fair number, consisting principally of country skins. Competition was not so brisk as last week, and a decline in value had to be submitted to. Butchers' crossbreds brought from 3s 61 to 4s 4d ; do merinos, 4s to 4s lOd ; dry cross* breds, Is 61 to 3s 8d ; merinos, 2$ to 4s 6d ; pelts, 6d to 71 ; lambskins, 7d to Is.

Hides. — No sales since our last report. The quotations remain unchanged.

Tallow. — We quote well rendered, 27* to 30s ; and rough fat, 17s 6d to 225.
