RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, ROXBURGH.
(Before W.^L. Simpson, Esq., R.M.) Tuesday, sth Maboh George Wicks v. John Crawford. — Claim of £14 Bs, being 32 days' labor, at 9s per day. Defendant paid £12 4s into Court, and stated that 8s per day was the highest rate of wages on the road where plaintiff was employed. A set-oft of 12s was admitted by plaintiff. Judgment for amount paid into Court, less 30s expenses allowed defendant. Bidgood v. George Penson.— Claim, £i 16s 6d, for goods supplied. — Judgment for amount claimed, and costs of Court, 9s. Waugh v, Nicholson.— Adjourned from sth February, being a judgment summons for £50 Bs. Defendant- was ordered to pay the amount in three equal instalments of £18 19s id ; the first to be paid on the 6th March, 1878, the second on 2nd April, and the third on the 30th April— or to be committed to the Lawrence prison for a period of six weeks. Charles Lucas applied for a billiard license. —Granted. Robert M'Leod made a similar application, which was likewise granted.
