Towsey.— Claim, £11 16s Bd. .Judgment confessed ; costs of Court, 11s. '. Arthur r. Isteed—Chim, £10 14s. This was a judgment summons. Defendant did not appear. When this case was being heard, the Magistrate remarked that the Act, which provided for imprisonment for debt, was meant to do away with imprisonment, and not lo encourage it, which some people imagined. — Defendant was ordered to pay the sum of 20s a month, on the 15th day of each month, until the amount was paid ; in default, 14 days' imprisonment. County of Tuapeka v. Yah Chung. — Summons not served. — Struck out. \Same v. A. M'Laren.— Claim, £2 ss, for rates. No appearance of defendant.—Judgment for amount. Fred. Meyer and Co. v. A. M'Lauchlin.— Claim, £10 19s.— Judgment for plaintiff for full amount ; and costs of Court, 20s. John Patello v. Daniel Gordon — Claim of £40. Mr M'Coy appeared for defendant. This case was adjourned for a week. Herbert and Co. v. C. F. Hansen. — Claim, £1, 178 4d.— Judgment for full amount, and costs 9s. W. Draper v. AhFour.— Claim, £1 18 a 6d. Judgment for full amount, and costs 6s.
