A new library at Cambridge is the third largest in the world. It contains 1,500.000 volumes, in addition to vast numbers of maps, pamphlets and manuscripts. With one officer and 20 “ other ranks,” the Ocean Island defence, which exists in the Pacific Islands Gilbert and Ellice, is the smallest British military force in the world.
