M .Gibb from the position of drawing mistress at the Christchurch Girls’ High School was accepted with regret at a meeting of the Canterbury College Council yesterday. It was decided that the council express its appreciation of the good work that Miss Gibb had done during the eleven years she was at the school. A recommendation from the High Schools and Hostel Committee to the Canterbury College Council yesterday that leave of absence be- granted to Miss M. Wilkinson and Miss J. Ross, of the staff of the Avonside Girls’ High School, until the end of the present year, was carried. The committee also reported that Miss E. Poison and Miss A. Jones were undertaking relieving duty.

Mrs Walter Radford, Hokitika, who has been spending a few months in the United States, has returned to New Zealand, and is staying with friends in Christchurch for several weeks before returning to Hokitika. The marriage of Mr Noel Gard’ner, only son of Colonel and Mrs M. M. Gard’ner, Cashel Street West, to Miss Norma Liardet, younger duaghter of Mrs Liardet and the late Mr H. Norman Liardet, who for many years was New Zealand general manager ot the Ocean Accident Insurance Company, will take place in Auckland on Thursday morning. Only a few friends of the bride will be present at the ceremony. Mr Gard’ner left last evening for Wellington on his way to Auckland, and is expected to return to Christchurch with his bride early next week. They will take up residence in a flat in Worcester Street.
