APPEAL DISMISSED.

Lord Hewart Refuses to Hear Evidence. MURDER TRIAL SEQUEL. United Press Assn.—By Telegraph— Copyright. (Received June 25, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON. June 24. Ruling out the plea that Mrs Alma Rattenbury and George Stoner should have been tried separately for the murder of Mr Francis Rattenbury, Lord Hewart dismissed the appeal without hearing the Crown and without permitting Stoner to give evidence. Crowds queued up for hours. Mrs Van der Elst, who is leading a crusade against the death sentence, sat with Stoner’s counsel. She paraded sandwichmen at the entrances to the Court. Stoner, a 19-year-old chauffeur, became enamoured of his employer’s wife, Mrs Rattenbury, and in a fit of jealousv murdered Mr Rattenbury, who was an elderly man. Mrs Rattenbury was jointly charged with Stoned but was acquitted. Stoner was sentenced to death. Mrs Rattenbury a few days later committed suicide by stabbing herself and leaping into a river.
