Damage Estimated to Be Over £12,000. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, This Day. The Morningside timber mill fire inquiry was continued to-day, when evidence was given by the company’s officers that protests had been made to the Railway Department prior to the fire in December, one concerning the continued danger of sparks from locomotives. It was also stated that the book value of the buildings and plant destroyed was £15.000 and the estimated value £12,377. Insurances, including stock, just exceeded £IO,OOO. The company had received £.5023 in insurance payments since the fire.
