BIBLE SOCIETY SECRETARY.
Mr A. C. Marks, the newly-appointed organising and deputational secretary ior the British and Foreign Bible Society in Canterbury and Westland, has arrived in Christchurch. lie is taking up the position recently vacated by the Rev A. W. Stuart, who is. now the society’s general secretary in New South Wales. Mr Marks, who up till recently hasbeen very active in church- and social work in Auckland, will visit each branch in his new province and will endeavour to carry out the society’s aims, chief of which is to encourage people to read the Bible in their homes. The society, which is representative of all denominations, opertites in practically all countries of the world and has been instrumental in having the Bible translated in many different languages. The headquarters are in London. _____
