Intense Interest in Nelson. (Special to the “ Star.’*) NELSON, May 9. Nelson election results were: —Mayoralty: George Lloyd Page, 2699 (elected) : Henry Everlv Arthur Washbourn, 1407. Mr W. J. Moffatt. the retiring Mayor, did not seek re-election. Council: *G. A. Neale, 2368; J. Fitzgerald, 2330; T. Glasgow. 2293; *S. A. Gibbs. 2238: L. C. Pettitt. 2220; 11. Hurst, 2166; *S. Moynagh. 2087; S. McArthur, 1889 and *G. P. Russell, 1822. Motueka :—Mayoralty: *R. York, 475: E. S. Loratt, 366. Waimea Power Board:—H. Everett, W. Max, L. Higgin and H. E. Stephens. Nelson Hospital Board:—R. Dagger, J. Fitzgerald and Annie Watson. Nelson Harbour Board:—A. Gould, W. C. Harley, F. Ledger, A. A. Kingsford. W. Kelly (Richmond), G. Manson, C. V. Price and F. W. Greenslade (Stoke). All the sitting members were returned. Mr Kingsford defeated Mr W. Lock, former Mayor of Nelson, for a vacancy made by the retirement of Captain Wildman. Richmond Borough Council:—Mr 11. W. Kelly, the present Mayor was returned unopposed. Council—E. Morris, W. L. Palmer, R. J. Polglaze. M. H. McGlashen, A. R. Puffnell and W. E. Poole. Intense interest was taken in the city elections which was a record poll. The Waimea County carried a £12,000 tar-sealing loan proposal by 1766 votes to 396.
