MUSICAL COMEDY.
Bright entertainment is provided in “Sally,” which is being presented at the St James Theatre by the Christchurch Musical Comedy Company. The show is packed with humour and offers also catchy music, good singing, both by the principals and the chorus, good work by the attractive ballet and satisfactory staging and costuming. Miss Irene Stone, in the title role of “ Sally,” is an engaging personality in every way. To Miss Stone is due the credit for the training of the ballet. Mr Alfred Haigh, with a definite gift for the ludicrous, is the chief laughter-maker and his is a fine performance as the Grand Duke Constantine. Miss Molly Fowler and Mr Carl Morris make a bright pair as Rosie and Otis. The “hero” part, that of Blair Farquar, is ably played by Mr Ken Barron. Specialty dancing, another fine feature of the evening’s enI tertainment. is ably done by Miss Rene J Redder and Messrs Billy Mills and i Charles Birchfield. The dressing and ! grouping are above criticism, and perI haps the finest feature of all is the ! ballet dancing, which is the most at- | tractive and best drilled which has been given by amateurs in Christ-
