THE KING'S JUBILEE.

Programme of Events for Sumner. At a meeting of the executive of the Sumner Silver Jubilee general committee, the following programme was adopted: Procession, headed by the Stanmore Silver Band, to leave Nayland Street and march to the pier band rotunda, where the Mayor will address the children; baby show in the Town Hall at 2.30 p.m., and sports on Clifton beach after the procession. The evening programme is to include a water carnival and fireworks display at Monck’s Bay, a precession of illuminated boats, and a submarine explosion. There will also be a Grand Jubilee Dance In the Town Hall. It was agreed that the entries for the sports should be free, and that a minimum of £5 5s should be spent 05 prizes for decorated bicycles, go-carts, motorcars, umbrellas and fancy dresses. River Carnival Committee. At. a meeting of the River Carnival Committee for the Silver Jubilee, it was reported that arrangements had been made to tow the raft from Radley bridge to Redcliffs. Mr Kennett reported that satisfactory arrangements had been made with the military authorities for the submarine explosion. Tt was decided to ask the council to provide coloured lighting for three launches and ten boats. The prizes were fixed as follows: First £2 10s, second £1 10s, third £l. Trade entries are to he discouraged. Mr W. R. Carey was appointed judge for the decorated boats and Mr C. Ilart was appointed announIt was reported that £23 would be spent on fireworks and that the signal for the submarine explosion would be the firing of a Verey light by the Mayoress. Arrangements were made to light a bonfire on the top of Shag Rock and to use a special *' sunlight flare.” It was reported that coloured lights would be erected both along and across the length of road between Shag Ilock corner and Pratt Street.
