Reports from London that the Commonwealth Government will seek to secure the appointment of the Duke of Kent as Governor-General are discounted in official circles. It is understood that the matter was discussed prior to the departure of Mr Lyons and a decision was reached that the time was not appropriate to seek a member of the Royal Family as Governor-General.
