REPERTORY SOCIETY.
Officers Elected for New Year. A satisfactory year was recorded at the sixth annual general meeting of the Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society, which was held last evening. Dr Janies Hight presided over a large attendance. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet the chairman said that the year had been a satisfactory one, considering the general situation. The membership had decreased by thirtytwo, and the total membership was 598. Mr W. J. Hunter said that he had been to Dunedin, and it was hoped there that an interchange of visits between the two societies could be arranged. He thought that if more social evenings for the active members were held it would be in the interests of the society. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Sir R. Heaton Rhodes; president, Dr J. Hight; vice-president, Mr R. Twyneham; committee, Mrs H. G. Cotterill. Miss E. Enright, Messrs W. C. Collins. W. B. Harris, D. 1. Macdonald. L. J. Taylor, T. W. C. Tothill. H. M’D. Vincent and J. H. Young; honorary producer, Professor J. Shelley; assistant producer, Mr B. V. Beeby; wardrobe mistress, Mrs R. E. Hall; stage manager, Mr H. Shaw; honorary auditor. Mr J. M. Preston. Mr D. T. Macdonald referred to the play reading activities for members, and said these meetings would be held fortnightly, commencing from April 10. Each member would be able to bring a guest. Besides the readings one-act plays would be given in Jcllicoe Hall.
