Reports of Canterbury Association. GOOD SEASON LAST YEAR. A successful season’s football is revealed in the year’s report of the Canterbury Football Association, to be presented to the annual meeting to be held in the Pioneer Sports Club rooms this evening. The shield competitions attracted an entry of 43 teams in all grades. Practically all the teams entered for the knock-out competitions and in every grade, with the exception of the junior grade, the shield winners became the cup winners for the season. The gate receipts for the Charity Cup match, won by Thistle, were an improvement on last year’s figures. The report congratulated the winning teams in the various competitions, referring to the fine performance of the Thistle Club, which won all the trophies in the local senior competition as well as becoming the champion club team of the South Island. The balance-sheet shows an excess of expenditure over income of £313 4s lOd for the year.
