OPTICIANS CONFER.

Regulations Regarding Advertising. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, This Day. In officially opening the annual conference of the Institute of Opticians of New Zealand to-day, the Minister of Health, Sir Alexander Young, said that Parliament had been most generous in the measure of protection given to opticians by law. Opticians . would do well to safeguard their profession with a high ethical code, and by assuring to the public the very best possible services at a reasonable fee. In his presidential address, Mr E. A. Sargent (Wellington) stressed the importance of legislation passed last year giving the Opticians’ Board power to draw up regulations regarding the advertising of registered opticians, and expressed the opinion that they would do a lot towards eliminating misleading and flamboyant advertisements, which did much harm, both to individual opticians and the profession as a whole. The conference will conclude on Thursday.
