MENACE TO PUBLIC.
Police Comment on Fraud Charges. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, This Day. Edward Gillespie, aged 30 years, was charged in the Police Court with obtaining £l2 from A. M. W-lsorw of Christchurch, and £l3 from L. Faigan. of Millers Flat, by false pretences. The police said that accused was a menace to the public and made no effort to kee'p on the straight path. lie had been before the Court for eight different offences, including theft and forgery*. Accused asked for a short, sharp sentence of hard labour and was given six months’ imprisonment.
