LINWOOD AVENUE SCHOOL.

The Linwood Avenue School Committee met recently, Mr T. Nuttall presiding. Miss R. L. A. Hodgson was welcomed as a new teacher at the school. The head master reported that the school opened the new year with a roll of 278 boys and 247 girls, a total of 525. Swimming classes had again been formed and very promising material was available. The grounds were at present in first-rate order. The Ladies’ Committee was holding a euchre party to-day in aid of the school fair, which is to be held late In March. Accounts totalling £ll 9s 8d were passed for payment. The annual picnic is to be held on Friday, February--22, at the Templeton Domain. The sports programme is to be arranged by the teaching staff.
