BATSMAN’S ARMOUR.

New lbw Rule Will Pierce Defence. LONDON, February 10. Mr Michael Falcon (Norfolk), defending the experimental leg-before rule at the Club Cricket Conference, said the original rule was made a century ago before prepared pitches, heavy rollers and pads were invented. To-day the batsman’s armour was both visible and invisible, and necessitated levelling the balance in the interest of the bowler. Mr Longstaff (West Surrey) said there were too many rules already. They should return to cricket as played on the village meadow. There were also too many Marylebone diplomats, but they shouldn’t be allowed to make a mess of club cricket.
