FRIENDS OF GORILLA.

Pygmies Neither Molest Nor Are Molested. LONDON, February 10. Pygmies who live on completely friendly terms with gorillas are described by Captain Pitman, a game warden of Uganda, in a paper read to the Zoological Society. Pitman twice visited the gorillas in the Kayonsa neighbourhood in the Belgian Congo, accompanied by pygmies, who neither molest nor are molested by the gorillas. He advises anybody seeking to study or photograph gorillas, to take pygmies, as other natives used as porters fear gorillas, and are apt to lead whites into circumstances in which they may think it necessary to shoot or kill for self-protection. This is actually what these natives desire as they covet the gorillas’ bodies for food.
