PUBLIC TELEVISION.
Here in Two Year*, Say* American Expert. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 18. It is the opinion of Mr W. T. Cranmer, of Philadelphia, export manager for the Philco Radio and Television Corporation, that although technically television receiving is well advanced, it will be about two years before television becomes a commercial reality. Mr Cranmer arrived from Sydney by the Makura to-day. There were two main things, continued Mr Cranmer, that would control the release of television to the public. The first was suitable broadcasting facilities, which meant many stations, because more stations would be required than were necessary for radio on account of the shorter distance to which television could be transmitted. The second factor was the provision of suitable programmes after the stations were established—programmes that would have real entertainment value.
