COMEDY AND DRAMA.
“ Sing and Like It ” and “ Keep ’Em Rolling.” A very satisfying drama and an uproarious comedy are offered at the Liberty Theatre this week. In “ .Keep ’Em Rolling,” featuring Walter Huston, life in the United States Cavalry and Field Artillery is portrayed, the scenes having actually been filmed at. Fort Myer, Virginia, while the officers and men of the 3rd Cavalry and 16th Field Artillery take an active share in the production. Walter Huston plays the part of an old soldier in pre-war days who is always coming to grief upon the rocks of army discipline and authority. He tames a horse just recruited to the army, and the strong attachment between man and animal gradually fills a gap in Private Walsh’s life, one result being his giving up of liquor. The Great War and their escapades together at the front bind the two to each other inseparably, but afterwards the weight of years and war wounds place Rodnev the horse in danger of “ humane ” destruction. It is a really pleasant drama. The very entertaining comedy, “Sing and Like It,” stars the plaintive and inimitable Zasu Pitts and another favourite. Edward Evef'ett Horton. Zasu, as Annie Snodgrass, a plodding bank employee, is heard siiTging a sentimenlal “mother” song by one of New York’s foremost “ Public Enemies.” who is emotionally overcome and determines to use his immense wealth and physical resources, in the shape of his gang, to star Annie and her song on Broadway. By intimidation, the city’s greatest producer, played by Horton, is made to manage Annie’s stage debut, and the greatest critic in New York is likewise persuaded to laud the production to the skies, so that Annie has “her hour.” The film is crowded with complications and hilarious incidents caused by the gangster’s vfrife and Annie’s sweetheart.
