As a result of a bush fire getting out cf hand near Waiuta battery yesterday afternoon three houses occupied by Messrs J. A. M’Ewan, battery manager of the Blackwater Mines, W. Ellery and F. Marshall, and also a hut occupied by R. Davis, were destroyed. The fire spread rapidly. A motor-car, the property of Mr Marshall, was saved by pushing it into the Snowy River. A p< rtion of the battery building was also seriously damaged, while a quantity of wood, the property of the Blackwater Mines was burnt.
