Mr and Mrs Gage arrived in Christchurch on Saturday and are staying at Warwick House. Mr and Mrs J. W. Fair will arrive in Christchurch to-day and will be guests at Warwick House. Mrs E. R. M’Combs, M.P., and Miss Patricia M’Combs, arrived from the north yesterday morning. Mrs D. W. Westenra, “ Camla,” Dunsandel, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs Ruthven, England, will arrive in Christchurch to-day, and will be a guest at Warwick House. Mr and Mrs Derrie Wood have returned to Christchurch and are living at Richmond Ilill, Sumner. Mr and Mrs Manning and their son, accompanied by Mrs Ensor, Waikato, are guests at Warwick House. Miss Jean Begg, national general secretary of the Y.W.C.A. of India, Burma and Ceylon, arrived in Auckland last week by the Marama. Mrs J. C. Whyte, Opawa, who has been on a six weeks’ holiday visit to Hanmer, will return to Christchurch this week. Mrs T. Hastings and children, who have been on a holiday visit to Mrs R. Green, Southbridge, returned to Christchurch last week. Mr and Mrs Walter Norwood, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs J. A. Redpath, jun., Fendalton, will leave for Wellington this evening. Miss Doris O’Connor, who has been the guest of Mrs A. Patten, Puaha, L’ttle River, has returned to Christchurch.
Mr and Mrs F. Ilill, Glenarli, Whitecliffs, are the guests of their daughter, Mis H. T. Milligan, Puaha, Little River. Mr and Mrs Alex. Macfarlane, Papanui Road, are the guests of Mr and Mrs G. Leslie Rutherford, Macdonald Downs. Miss Hilda Montgomery, Little River, who has been the guest of Mr and Mrs Gilbert Grigg, Ilaldon Pastures. Hororata, will return home to-day. Mrs J. W. Carr and Miss Valerie Carr, Wellington, are visiting Christchurch and are staying with the Rev Allon Carr and Mrs Carr, Cashmere. Miss Enid Crump, Coop Town, Little River, has returned home after a holiday spent with her aunt, Mrs W. Harrington, North Road, Belfast. Mrs Wm. C. Collins, Clifton East, Sumner, who has been staying in Geraldine, will return home during the week, accompanied by her son, Mr C. W. Collins. Misses May and Annie Hampton, The Grove, Lauriston, accompanied by Misses Edna Lemon and May Letham, Lauriston, are spending a holiday in Timaru and are staying at Beverley House.
Mrs W. O. Cmpbell, Fendalton, will leave to-morrow for a visit to Dunedin. Mrs Edmund Harper, Whitecliffs, is the guest of Mrs C. 11. Gosset, Chester Street West. Mr and Mrs R. O’B. Loughnan, Otane, are the guests of Mrs G. W. Dent, Rastrick Street. Sir Thomas and Lady Wilford left by the Remuera on Saturday on their return to England. . Miss Janet Timbs, Christchurch, left on Sunday for a holiday in Southland and Stewart Island. Miss Lyndsev Thomson, Montreal Street, spent the week-end with Mrs Forbes O’Rorke, Ilororata. Mr and Mrs Jack Anderson, Cranmer Square, left Wellington by the Remuera on Saturday for a trip to England. Major and Mrs Owen Mead, Dunedin, who were staying in Christchurch on their way back from Blenheim, have returned home. Miss Montgomery Moore. Wanganui, who has been the guest of Mrs Marmaduke Bethell, Pahau Pastures, is now’ visiting Christchurch. Mr and Mrs W. 11. Price, Wellington, arrived in Christchurch on Saturday and have left for a motoring tour of the south. Mrs T. E. Y. Seddon, Wellington, passed through Christchurch on Saturday on her way home from Mount Cook. Miss Berys Macdonald, Invercargill, is a visitor to Christchurch for the Robertson-Morris wedding to-morrow, and is staying with Mrs D. E. Hansen, Opaw’a. Miss Meta Nixon, who went to 'Wellington to meet her aunts, Mrs Hugonin, Oaro, and the Misses Bullen, “ The Lakes,” Kaikoura, on their return from England, has returned home. Mr and Mrs J. S. Hutchinson, Meriyale Lane, with their daughters, the Misses Vera and Peggie Hutchinson, who have been spending some months in Rotorua and Auckland, will leave o/i March 2 for England, via Suez. Mrs Daniel Reese entertained the members of the English women’s cricket team on Saturday night at an informal supper at her home on Cashmere Hills. During the evening the guests were entertained with a moving film of New Zealand scenery. The following women bowlers left to-day for Dunedin to take part in the Otago tournament: Mesdames D. Dickson (Linwood), J. G. Robb (Sydenham). Sangster, Sampson. Travis. Fuller. M’Donald, Madsen, Tumber, Carrol, Legge, White, Middelton and Graham (Beckenham). Sir Archibald Edmonstone and Lady Edmonstone, who are on a holiday visit to New Zealand, arrived In Christchurch on Saturday and left later for the south. Sir Archibald was Groom-In-Waiting to King Edward VII.
