W.C.T.U. MEETINGS.

Miss Henderson presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Christchurch branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, held on Wednesday. Correspondence was read from Mrs Perryman, who urged members to try to gain new subscribers for the “ White Ribbon ” before the convention in March. A resolution was passed expressing regret at the action of the City Council in allowing tenris to be played on reserve Parks on Sundays. Papanul Branch. The monthly meeting of the Papanul branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Wednesday afternoon, Mrs Graham presiding over a good attendance of members. Mrs rrampton read a temperance fact. The secretary was asked to send letters of sympathy to Mrs A. Borgfeldt and Mrs M’Cullough in their illnesses, also to Mrs Elliott in the illness of her husband. A letter was read from Mrs Perryman asking members to endeavour to get new subscribers to the White Ribbon. The matter of sending a delegate to the convention next month was deferred till later. After a discussion, it was decided to hold the monthly meetings on the fourth Wednesday in each month and that the next meeting be of a social nature. A collection was taken up for the Maori Mission Fund.
