Tobacco Curing.
Dear Sir, —In answer to your correspondent who wished to know about tobacco curing, here is a recipe that I have tried and proved. I take it that he has his leaf already ribbed. To every pound of leaf sprinkle on one quarter of a breakfast cup of water to which has been added two dessert spoons of sugar. Press the leaf into a convenient plug. Cut up and add two teaspoons of rum and two grains of saltpetre or glycerine. Place in an oven or other hot place until thoroughly moist, take out and allow to dry in the open. Unfortunately your correspondent does not state what kind of a smoke he wants—heavy, medium or light. This recipe is for a heavy smoker. I can supply him with several other recipes. I have had four years in tobacco curing in Motueka so my information is fairlv reliable.—l am, etc., POKORORO BLEND.
