An accident marred the Trial Handicap, Madam Pompadour, who was favourite, falling when well placed near the distance and bringing down Lady Leighton. R. J. Mackie, the rider of Lady Leighton, escaped serious injury, but B. H. Brodie, the rider of Madam Pompadour lay still and was brought in in an ambulance.
