Trade Talks With Japan Abortive. LONDON, February 4. No useful purpose can be served by further discussing with Japan, either Governmentally or industrially, Japanese competition in cotton and rayon goods, says the annual report of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce. While admitting that friendly contact can be maintained with Japan on general issues, the report declares that throughout last year’s abortive textile talks in London the Japanese never intended to produce proposals satisfactory to Britain.
