POLICE COURT.

Man Broke Terms of Release on Probation. A plea of guilty was entered by Edward William Madden, an engine-driver, who appeared before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, charged with failing to comply with the terms of his release on probation. The case was adjourned for a month, a condition being that he should report twice weekly to the Probation Officer. Reward Granted. Norman Chamberlain Chalmers, a farm labourer, thirty-two years of age, was remanded to appear on February 19 on a charge of forging an order. The accused was represented by Mr Young. Pine Imposed. Richard John M’Gee, who pleaded not guilty to a charge of selling milk that was not fresh, was fined £1 and costs. X.it Pire. For lighting a fire without first obtaining the permision of the Christchurch Fire Brigade, William Uren was ordered to pay costs. Palled to Pay Pare. R. J. Mitchell was fined 10s and costs for failing to pay a tram fare.

Shop Rot Closed. For falling to close a shop at the required hour, Sydney Anning was fined £1 and costs.
