Son of Agent Shot by Masked Man. ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 12. 10.40 a.m.) DUBLIN, February 11. Four masked men entered a house at Edgeworthstown, County Longford, and rushed into the dining-room. They ordered the owner, Gerald More O’Farral, to ,put up his hands. He refused and a raider fired point-blank at him. The bullet struck a cigarette case in his waistcoat pocket and was deflected harmlessly. His twenty-one-year-old son. Richard, rushed to the rescue and jumped on one raider, who shot him in the stomach. The raiders decamped in a motor-car. It is believed that they intended to kidnap Gerald O’Farral. as a bucket of tar and some chains were found in the garden. Gerald was agent for the Sanderson Estate and recently received threatening letters following the issue of ejectment orders. Richard was rushed to hospital in Dublin, where his condition is reported to be serious.
