“WHITE GLOVE MONTH.”
Somerfield Burgesses Have No Complaints. “We will have to record this as a white glove month, in view of there being no complaints from members concerning the district,” stated the chairman of the Somerfield Burgesses’ Association (Mr R. Jones) at a meeting of that body last night. The meeting lasted for only slightly over an hour. The chairman reported on the deputation which waited on the chief postmaster at Christchurch regarding a post office for Christchurch South. He said that further details had been requested, after which the Department’s decision would be made. The City Engineer wrote advising that there were no further streets in the Somerfield area scheduled to be tar-sealed this financial year. From the latest expenditure statement, however, it appeared that the list would probably be extended later, and if that were so then the claims of Aylmer and Fairview Streets would be considered.
