CRICKET.
Seventh Series of First Grade Matches. RICCARTON v. COLLEGIAN'S. The seventh series of first-grade club cricket matches commences to-morrow, the draw being: Riccarton (32 competition points) v. Old Collegians (24 points), at Ilagley No. 3. Sydenham (26) v. St Albans (10), at Ilagle}' No. 1. Lancaster Park (22) v. Old Boys (10) at Hagley No. 2. West Christchurch (12) v. East Christchurch (17) at Lancaster Park. Riccarton are well ahead now. and only severe reverses can keep them from the championsip. It is unlikely that they will go down to Collegians, but the Collegians side is capable of unexpected things, as was shown in the double dismissal of St Albans last Saturday. However, it will be surprising if the Collegians can make a big score against the Riccarton bowling. The teams are:— Riccarton—S. Andrews, 11. Blackwell, I. Bolton, G. Bull, D. Dunnett, J. Hooper. L. Fairbairn, J. Jacobs, J. Powell, A. W. Roberts, G. H. Stringer. Collegians—Dunster, Walter. Smyth, Chrystall. Lester, Jackman, Denham, Ollivier, Graham, Alexander, Hamilton. Sydenham meet St Albans, and on performances are assured of a win. Sydenham have played steadily all the season, but the St Albans team, with some promising material, has • not played up to expectations. Perhaps this will be St Albans’s turn to strike form, and in that case Sydenham will have to produce their best. The teams are:— Sydenham—Burtt, Bellamy,. Butterfield, Gasson, Gray, King, Newton, Oliver, Smith, Spong, Wallburton. St Albans—Birch, Burtt, Crawford, Cummings. Dailey, M’Lennan, O’Brien, Park, Rankin, Tucker, Writer. ti ti t-Z Lancaster Park, despite their severe defeat at the hands of Riccarton last Saturday, are a strong side, and should be able to account for Old Boys. The teams are:— Lancaster Park—T. B. Cromb, R. Westwood, G. Dryden, T. Kennedy, D. Lee, A. P. Cobden, F. Kerr, D. Dawson, R. Read, L. Brooks, S. Yates. Old Boys—Colville, Cook, Escott, Fisher, Graham, Hadlee, Harbidge, Harris, Hill, M’Ewen and Page. The issue between East Christchurch and West Christchurch is hard to predict. West have not been at all consistent this season, ■while East, though they have failed against the stronger sides, have some good performances to their credit. Unless some of the West batsmen strike form. East should come out on the credit side. • The teams are:— East—R. Coupland, G. Mortlook, H. Davis, P. Allsopp, E. Brosnahan, D. Quaid, S. V. Ellis, C. M’Phail, F. Klnvig. A. Marriott, K. Wilson. West—Allen, Brown, Burton, Findlay, Gregory, Kerr, Patrick, Peake, Smith, Vincent, Ward.
