H E AT L E Y-DAVIS. A rich gown of cream ring velvet cut on diagonal lines to fit the figure was worn by Gwendoline Ethel Francis, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs E. T. Davis. Christ- | Church, for her marriage to Bruce j Lionel, younger son of Mi and Mrs H. H. | Heatley, St Albans, last evening. The j ceremony was performed by the Rev j A. K. Warren at St Mary’s Church, j Merivale, which had been charmingly ! decorated with blue hydrangeas by j friends of the bride. Dr T. L. Crooke was the organist, and Mr E. P. Davis gave his sister away. The skirt of the bride’s gown was made with a back panel which swept into a long train, uncommonly trimmed with flowers of self material forming horseshoes. The long sleeves were tight fitting, and were finished with fine pleating coming to points over the wrists. Her veil of Brussels lace fell softly over her gown and formed a second train, and she carried a sheaf of white gladioli. Two bridesmaids and a flower girl were in attendance. Miss Zora Adkins and Miss Grace Parr, the maids, were dressed alike in quaint frocks of daffo-dil-yellow taffetas made on straight lines, the skirts fitting to the knees from pointed bodices back and front and flaring to the feet. Wide frills softened the necklines, and their sashes, tied with bows at the back, fell in long ends to. the hems of their frocks. Bandeaux of palest pink rosebuds and erica were worn on their hair, and each maid carried a sheaf of pastel shaded gladioli. A frock made on similar lines to those of the elder attendants, but with short puffed sleeves and weighted with ruching at the hemline, was worn by the flower girl, Janette Davis, the bride’s niece. Her head band was also of pink rosebuds and erica, and she carried a dainty Victorian posy in pastel shades. Mr John Davis, brother of the bride, was best man, and Mr Pat Cotton was groomsman. The guests were later received at the Winter Garden by the bridegroom's mother, who wore a navy ensemble, the frock being of figured crepe graffete made with a blue vestee, and worn under a navy coat of crepe du maroc. Iler hat was to tone, and lemon and gold flowers blended in her bouquet. Mrs E. P. Davis, the bride’s sister-in-law, wore a smart frock of duck egg blue relieved with brown and finely pin tucked at the hips. Her brown hat was of Baku straw, and she carried a bouquet in pastel shadings. For travelling, the bride chose a blue ensemble, the frock being .of moss crepe, patterned in white, and trimmed with pleating to form a V in front. Her coat was of blue wool crepe de chine to match, and her straw hat was also of blue. BECK—NEARY. The marriage was celebrated recently at the John Knox Presbyterian Church. Rangiora, of Kathleen Maud Near;/ and James Alexander, elder son of Mrs and the late Mr T. Beck, Rangiora. The Rev J. A. Preston, of Motunau, officiated. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations. gvpsophila and lemon hollyhocks. Miss Evelyn Beck, sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaid, wore an ankle-length frock of floral lemon organdie with frilly sleeves and small frills at the bottom of the skirt. The waistline was defined by a lemon organdie sash. She wore a black lacy straw' hat trimmed with pink and lemon to tone. Her bouquet consisted of pink and heliotrope sweet peas. Mr [Stanley Beck, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man. !
