MAYOR’S GRATITUDE.
Gratitude to- the large number of persons who sent messages of sympathy to him when he was hurt recently was expressed to-day by the Mayor j (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.M.). The messages came from every section of the community, said Mr Sullivan, and the kindly thoughts expressed had been j appreciated very much. One of the ! first received was from the GovernorGeneral, Lord Bledisloe, and others came from members of the Ministry, the Leader of the Opposition (Mr M. | J. Savage, M.P.), many Members of | Parliament, the executive of the Lab- ! our Party, members of the Parliamentary Labour Party, the mayors and : councillors of a number of cities and j boroughs, the editors and managers of several newspapers, the Canterbury I Labour Representation Committee, and from a large number of personal friends and private citizens.
