GREYHOUND BAN.

Owner Disqualified for Five Y ears. (Special to the “ Star.”) SYDNEY. January 3. A stir has been caused in greyhound racing circles by- the disqualification for five years of 11. P. Williams, one of the most prominent dog owners in New South Wales. The disqualification arose out of the compulsory withdrawal of Dail Abbot by- the stewards from the hurdle races at the Wollongong grey’hound meeting last night. Dail Abbot opened at 5/4 on, drifted to 2 to 1 concession, and when the dogs were being paraded around the course prior to the race, the stewards st'pped in and ordered his withdrawal. Subsequently an inquiry was opened and adjourned until after the meeting, when the stewards found “ That H. P. Williams, owner of Dail Abbot, was guilty- of discreditable conduct, and it was decided to disqualify’ Williams and the black dog, Dail Abbot, for a term of five years.” The stewards further decided to warn off the attendant, W. Eady, during the pleasure of the stewards. Dail Abbot was a smart hurdle performer, and had won a number of races at Harold Park and Wollongong. Williams is also the owner of Sir Timothy’, a star sprinter, and Tullera Lad, unquestionably the greatest halfmiler that has been produced in grey’hound racing for years.
