AGILE WINS BIG RACE.

Easily Disposes of Opponents in The Mace Memorial Handicap.

BIG FIELDS AT NEW BRIGHTON. lIIS FIRST race over two miles, Agile easily disposed of a field of seventeen in the Mace Memorial Handicap, the big event at New Brighton to-day. Betty W rack was hard driven to get within two lengths* of the winner, and Real Burton was four lengths further back third. Agile was seventh favourite. Betty Wrack was sixth favourite. Real Burton, the second choice, was the only well backed competitor to get in the money. The favourite was Little Nelson who gave a disappointing display. Fernbrook Lass was another to disappoint. There was a sensation in the Wainoni Handicap when Fortlight, eighteenth favourite in a field of twenty, hung on to beat Iraq and Midshipmaid. There were only fourteen and a half tickets on the winner, who paid a phenomenal price.
